HOLA! I'm drunk and just watched Game of Thrones

Hi family and friends and random internet stalkers,

Lance and I have been blessed with good health, good friends and family and good cable access in Santiago.    Holla! (please note that Hola is not to be confused with Holla - the first is a Spanish greeting; the second is a slang exclamation). We were lucky enough to have HBO in our little apartment in Santiago and just caught the season 3 premiere to Game of Thrones. Yes, we are geeks, but that is why we are totally awesome. Did I mention we have been into the local Cab Sav? Big fans!

Okay, today was a very good day. We slept in and got over our jet lag and ventured out to see some of the local parks.

These first set of pictures are from Parque del Cerro Santa Lucia which was just a block from our apartment. After a quick walk to the top, it afforded excellent views of Santiago.

Our next stop after a quick lunch was Cerro San Cristobal accessible by funicular (otherwise known as old school uphill awesome trolly):

Lance blessed in the presence of Mary. Can you feel it....I felt it.....

More pictures will follow in the next couple of days. Love you all lots and mind the Nightwalkers ,

Arrived in Santiago!

After a loooong ass day of travel,  Amy and I have finally checked into our room.  We arrived in Santiago @ around 9am (6 am MST) and grabbed a cab and found the apartment we are staying at for the next 4 nights.  We were unable to check in until 2pm, so we left our bags and after some meager attempts at what little Spanish we know and some charades we were satisfied with the accommodations and ventured out to find something to put in our empty food caves.   We ate, shopped for fresh produce to stock our new crib with and grabbed some pics.  We currently just got back to the apartment and are now happily putting our feet up with some freshly chilled vino from the market.

After strolling to the main square near our apartment we continued to wander down a pedestrian street and came across a small fish market along with restaurants and shops. This is a shot of the tiny restaurant we decided to stuff our faces at.
It felt very local given the proximity to the tourist center.  The people were fantastic and we managed to order some delicious food again, through charades and our bible (spanish phrase book)

Holy sh@t the fish looked so good here!

This is a craft like flower we bought off some mime hippies.  Yes, I've decided to call them mime hippies.  They were very nice - didn't talk and had white face paint, but none the less very nice and talented!
This is the center of the fish market.  Many shops and small restaurants.....
